As families grow and household requirements change, you may find yourselves considering a property extension. But what if you live in an urban area where outdoor space is limited? Do you sacrifice your garden completely? That’s not an ideal solution if you have a young family, or actually enjoy spending time outdoors. If you have a basement area or garage, we can convert them into workable environments. If neither is available, however, then our team at Builder Sky Ltd will take the loft in your Woking home and transform it into a stylish and modern space.
In business for over twenty years, we’re a team of professional builders with 50 years of experience between us. We work alongside property developers to construct one-off designs and multiple properties that instantly attract domestic and commercial clients throughout Surrey.
The loft conversion options provided by us at Builder Sky are available in four styles, each designed and built to suit your unique property:
By adding a box-shaped addition to the slope of the roof on one side, head and floor space is instantly enlarged in the loft. The roof of this new conversion can be left flat to suit a modern style, or pitched and tiled to complement the existing roof. With vertical sides and flush windows, dormer loft conversions are a popular choice for many in Woking.
These add a significant amount of floor space for clients whose properties have hipped roofs. By extending the hip to become flush with the gable end of the property, the roof is opened up like an envelope. With the ridge built across to meet the new outside wall, this makes a perfect area in which to install en-suite facilities due to the increased headroom.
Often seen in town houses, Mansard roofs were popularised in the 17th century by the French Baroque architect, François Mansart. They are similar in style to dormer conversions but, instead of a vertical façade, the front of a mansard roof slopes back approximately 70°. Dormer windows can be inserted into the conversion, however, to add additional headspace.
If you are happy with the overall size of your existing loft, our builders can just insert new supporting walls in order to conceal the water tank and pipes whilst still providing essential storage facilities. By adding Velux roof lights directly into the slope of the roof, the new attic space will be instantly illuminated and ready for use.
The services included for these stylish property renovations include:
Some loft conversions require planning permission in advance. Our knowledgeable builders can advise on this and help you navigate the process with the relevant local authority departments.
